Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. There is no wrong and there is no right. Plain and simple. Found these and thought it was really interesting. Also found a study performed by Elizabeth Cashdan, an anthropologist, from the University of Utah on "hour glass" figure. Most women covet the hour glass figure including myself, but turns out its not ideal for economical success. Study found that women that have a little more testosterone increases visceral fat around the mid section instead of the breast and hip area - the normal area where women usually gain fat. Bottom line - studied showed that women that are not hour glass shaped is associated with higher testosterone which equals stronger, tougher, economically successful and politically competitive women.
Every now and then I like to shut myself off from the world. Just turn my phone off, avoid facebook, twitter.... it all. I'm not testing to see if anyone cares, just interesting to see who does notice. And even if no one does notice, it's nice to take a break. I can't tell you how many hours a week I have my phone glued to my hand as my eyeballs are plastered on the screen as I scroll through updates.
I highly recommend trying it.
When we lived overseas we made a trip to California where I got the best perm ever! This brand Motions is amazing! Their products are gentle whether it be a perm, spray or even shampoo. The smells are necessarily the sexiest but the nourishment and repair it does to my hair is sexy enough! I'm debating rocking just my natural roots again during the season to avoid dealing with braids or a weave...or even a wig since I have to accessorize with a helmet. Anywho - I relaxed my hair today and will be figuring out a style tomorrow.
First is an all time favorite (we've had it twice) parmesan tilapia. Basics...
- parmesan cheese (finely shredded or the sprinkle kind)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- lemon pepper
- 1/2lb tilapia
Put lemon pepper on your tilapia and put it in the oven for about 2 mins at 350 degrees. take it out. Pour olive oil evenly on all tilapia fillets and then drizzle the parmesan cheese to your liking. put in till lightly brown.
Parmesan Egg noodles are next!
- half bag of egg noodles
- 4 eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup parmesan cheese (finely shredded)
Cook egg noodles in lightly salted water. While they are cooking - mix together the 4 eggs, parmesan cheese and salt (optional). Mix well. Right as the noodles are almost finished, take the 4tbsps butter and melt in a large skillet. Strain noodles, pour noodles in skillet - stir to get them all buttered up. They add the egg mixture and stir lightly for about 30 -45 seconds. YOU DO NOT WANT THE EGGS TO SCRAMBLE AND MESS IT ALL UP.
Scottie really wanted to get a new pet. It literally took about 3 weeks for us to finally find him the perfect pet. He narrowed it down to either a Gecko or a red tail shark - however, we ended up with neither. He got a Fire Belly Toad
Disgusting and creepy to me...but toads eat 6-8 live crickets a day. So Here is the plastic bin of a weeks supply of crickets. Yum Yum!
Scottie feeding his toad
I however decided to just get a beta. A male cause they are prettier ;) Simple vase in our guest bathroom. We haven't decided on pet names yet - stay tuned.
Other than these sweet new Nike kicks below that I got - I'm excited about some of the updates going on in preparation of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The foundations have been laid and they are continuing to build the bobsled track!!!
Last night Scottie and I teamed up to make our dinner. Took a simple recipe from www/allrecipes.com and made a few adjustments since we didnt have all the ingredients. (Original Recipe below)
OUR MIX! instead of Cheddar cheese we used the Italian Blend (Great Value). Instead of 2tbsp onion, we used Half of a large onion and did NOT chop it up finely so I could pick them out. DID NOT used condensed can of cream of chicken soup. Instead of green chilles we just poured in like 1/2 cup of Mild Salsa. No extra salt and pepper were added and the tortillas we used were whole wheat - less carbs, more fiber.
Original Recipe Yield 8 servings Ingredients
Most Fridays at Scottie's work they do something fun and this Friday they had a Luau and Island Hat Contest. Everyone in the company was given a straw hat to decorate island style. Below are some of the hats OTHER people designed - all hats were placed on a table to be judged by all employees, the one with the most votes wins.
Scottie came up with an idea to put an inner tube on the hat. So we did and went from there.... Here is the finished product.
Unfortunately, as awesome as his hat was....he placed 2nd to the winning hat below created by good friend and co-worker Barb. GO BARB!!!
I am on a huge banana bread crave! In the last 48hours I've baked six different loaves. Different reciepes, with chocolate, with walnuts with applesauce instead of eggs, with more bananas, with less bananas.... in the bread pan, as muffins....in personal pans....I'm obsessed!!! I'm determined to find my perfect blend. You just wait!
This is the problem I have with cooking....I will focus in and try to perfect one reciepe. Its not good enough and I always feel like I could do better. We seriously have more banana bread than we need. So tomorrow Scottie will be sent to work with banana bread for his employees. lol
Scott has golfed for several years now and I've never had any interest in it whatsoever. My USATF Coach McLoud used to say its a "spoiled walk". Once Scottie and I hitched, he would invite me to come out golfing with him and his pals but I would always pass. (I was only interested in driving the golf carts and most courses you have to pay full price to bring another person - so not worth it just to drive a golf cart).
Now that we moved to Texas, Scottie lost his golfing buddies and his clubs were collecting dust. I decided that I would give it a try and see how it goes. Scott was sooooo excited he bought me beginners clubs and a glove
Friday night for our weekly "date nite" we set out on our golfing adventure starting at the driving range just so I can introduce myself to my new clubs and figure out how to use them. Then Saturday morning we went to the course to hit 9 holes. I decided to make things interesting... Scott's clubs are more expensive than mine and I notice he put his in the back seat while mine had to go in the trunk. Not that it's a big deal, but I wanted to make a bet with him. Whoever wins gets to keep their clubs in the back seat, comfy and air conditioned. Loser sticks their clubs in the trunk. He confidently agreed. He also beat me. badly. I kept my head high cause I was learning...I lost 7 balls...but who's counting?
Next game! The night before, just for fun, I decided to watch Happy Gilmore. This would now officially make it my second time EVER playing a full 9 holes, using the proper clubs. Saturday came around and we set out yet again to the golf course with Scottie's clubs once again in the back seat and mine ping pong'n in the trunk.
BUT THAT DIDNT MATTER!!! I had him beat from the first hole. I won that day by 12 strokes...mind you, I tee off from the women's tees (for right now) and he hits from the blues. But regardless! I WON!!! So I was so excited to stick my clubs in the back seat and watch Scottie place his precious clubs in the trunk. hehehe. Oh the taste of victory! Let's hope I can keep my back seat...
